Rule 77
Number of students

(1) The number of students in each class of a community school should generally be fifty, forty-five and forty in the valley and plains, hills and mountains respectively.
(2) Each class of an institutional school should have a minimum number of twenty-two, a maximum of forty-four and an average of thirty-three students.
(2a) Notwithstanding anything written in sub-rule (1) or (2), the number of students in each class of a special education school shall be as prescribed by the Ministry.
(3) If there are more students in a class than what is written in sub-rule (1), the school may open another class of that class with the permission of the management committee.
(4) In accordance with sub-rule (3), the management committee and the school shall coordinate the necessary infrastructure arrangements for opening classes.
